Pita Said

30 years. That’s how long Mechelen native Saïd ‘Pita’ Aghassaiy (rapper, producer, and filmmaker) has been a cornerstone of the Flemish hip-hop scene. Pita made his debut in the mid-90s with the hip-hop group ABN, where he collaborated with Dutch rapper Def P from Osdorp Posse on the track Algemeen Beskaafd Nederlandz. This collaboration put both hip-hop and Pita himself on the map, resulting in significant media attention, airplay (the single debuted on De Afrekening on Studio Brussel), and countless performances, including highlights at Werchter and Pukkelpop.

Around the turn of the millennium, Pita began his solo music career, which was immediately picked up by national radio stations.

Now, in 2024, it’s time to celebrate this milestone in Flemish hip-hop. Pita marks the occasion with a double album, EEN BALANS, showcasing his talent on both old-school and new-school beats. Notably, several old friends (Quinte from ABN, Baz, and Guy Swinnen) make guest appearances, fully embodying the spirit of 30 years of craftsmanship.

With the Verenigt De Straten Tour, Pita is literally hitting the streets. A professionally equipped vehicle serves as a mobile recording and video studio, where he interviews prominent figures about social issues. Each theme aligns with one of the 30 singles featured on the album.

The movement is in motion and unstoppable!
